52 weeks of Organizing

1.  Let’s talk stuff!  What have you tossed out this week?  Lots of paper and 2 shirts with stains on them.
2.  Have you ever regretted something you’ve gotten rid of?  Why?  Yes actually my first sewing machine… I think I could have had it cleaned and serviced and it could be my backup machine now.
3.  How tempted are you to rush out and pick up pretty organizing containers first?  I have bought some first, but just a few that I knew I could use.

This week was taxes week.  My appointment was yesterday and I always wait until the last minute.  Well this time I gave myself 5 days.  Um…yeah, I was still working on them at the last minute.  Pulling out my tax file from the top drawer of my file cabinet pushed me into starting on the files.  I need to clean out and oganize my 4 drawer filing cabinet.  Here is what the top drawer looked like:

My dining room table looked pretty much like this all week:

Why am I saying “pretty much”.  It did look like that all week.  However, last night was my tax appointment right after my chronic pain group.  My accountant is a very patient man.  His daughter and my youngest daughter went through grade school together, so it is a time of catching up too.

Finally this morning I was able to put everything leftover away, took off the tablecloth and took this lovely picture of my table with the tulips and wedding reception vase from my neighbor:

  Aaahhh much better!

I spent a lot of time with the shredder this morning!   My top drawer is not finished.  I still need to make labels, which involves changing the batteries in the label maker, which I need to go buy!

Slowly but surely I am making progress and it feels really good!  Now to go see what everyone else did this week!

It must feel good to have the tax appointment behind you. The flowers on the table look so beautiful. Have a great weekend and I’ ll be checking on your project next week.

Are those tulips from your yard? You must live somewhere where spring has sprung! My hubby does all the paperwork organizing, yipeeeeee. I do the shredding. Happy Organizing.

No not yet. My tuips are up, but not much. They are one of the reasons I have vowed to not buy any more bulbs from Costco. I love Costco, but have had terrible luck with their bulbs.

The tulips are from my neighbor, the mother of the little one I made the quilt for pictured on my blog. She is the same age as my older daughters and we have become great friends since she moved in a year ago. Unfortunately they are moving this spring sometime. Very sad about it….

Good job! I will post my projects very soon. I finished the sweater and it’s at home with the granddaughter. Her grandpa put it on her last night and she took off with it, happy as she usually is. My hubby meets up with son every Thurs for a gaming nite so he meets at their place and ride together. So anyway, Love your table with tulips. I’ve got daffodils blooming in the flower bed! Hugs!

  4. Your table looks awesome! Isn’t that such an amazing feeling? Getting taxes done is the WORST and every year I vow to update my filing system so it isn’t quite so terrible. Maybe this year will be the year 😉

Oh, you’re right… we might be long lost twins! My dining room table looks exactly the same as your “before” shot. Sucks the life right out of me just walking by that room. That is definitely my next 52 Weeks project!

Ugh, taxes. Actually, I’m more on top of it this year than ever before (I do my own)… and Org. Junkie probably has a lot to do with it! Isn’t this 52 Weeks thing amazing?!

  6. Heather says:

So great getting the tax stuff behind you. I did that this week, my boyfriend looked them over and found almost $1000 that I didn’t notice. Glad he looked with fresh eyes for me.

  7. Martha (MM) says:

Ahhh, much better! Beautiful flowers in that nice sunny dining room 🙂
Glad you mentioned taxes, I haven’t even made my appointment yet! Yikes!!

  8. Samantha says:

Ugh, I hate filing and I hate preparing and filing our taxes. I finished ours over the week-end and sent them in electronically – thank goodness. I like the flowers a lot more than the tax stuff!
