8 years ago today…..

My dad turned 78.  It was Thanksgiving Day.  He passed away that morning.  I cannot believe it was 8 years ago today.  We went ahead with our dinner as my oldest daughter’s boyfriend’s family had come from the Bay Area to meet us and spend Thanksgiving.  I treasure the time we had with the Barlow family that Thanksgiving and the wonderful memories.  They were a comfort to me that day and helped me to realize that life truly does go on.

  1. Life does change. It’s hard not having my mom with us at the dinner table. She is in a nursing home. I surprised her and came to lunch with her on Friday and we had a good talk.
We cherish the memories of our loved ones when they are gone and hold close to those family and friends that are still with us. Glad you had a good thanksgiving with some good memories that made it better!

It is tough when you lose someone you are close to. My husband’s younger brother died unexpectedly in September, and it still feels fresh. But, we have good memories, and reach out to comfort his mother and nephews and niece. I am glad that you have good memories, too.
